Walk or run and help raise funds for Cure4CF Research!
By taking part in Adelaide’s annual Sunday Mail City to Bay Fun Run on Sunday, September 15th, you can do your part to help us find a cure for cystic fibrosis airway disease!
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life-threatening genetic disease currently affecting young Australians, and Adelaide’s Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy Research Group are working hard towards finding a cure for this devastating illness. The team have already had success in treating the airways of affected mice with the correcting cystic fibrosis gene (called CFTR), and are now aiming to extend the effects of this CFTR gene with the hope of securing a cure, or at minimum a long-lasting and effective treatment, for cystic fibrosis airway disease in humans. Further research and greater resources are needed to enable the group to move into clinical trials on human patients, and the Cure4CF Foundation is working to raise the funds needed for this important research to continue.
How can you help?
Want to get involved? You can help support Cure4CF simply by throwing on your sneakers and walking/running/jogging the 12km, 6km or 3km City to Bay route on September 15th! All you need to do is sign up at the City to Bay website and then register as a Cure4CF fundraiser via the Everyday Heroes website. You can take part on your own, with a group, or join our very own group of Cure4CF Walkers as they take on the 12km! Once you have registered, share the link and encourage your friends, family, colleagues and others to join the cause and donate via the website. This is a great way for you to keep track of how much you raise, and to spread the word and encourage others to get involved!
Even if you can’t join us at the City to Bay on September 15th, you can still show your support for the Cure4CF Foundation and help beat Cystic Fibrosis airway disease by making a donation.
