Research Update: A World of Hope for Cystic Fibrosis

The World of Hope Presentations held on Wednesday 5 November 2014, was a great success with updates on local and global research, and with more than $25,000 donated on the night. Thank you to all!

The World of Hope Lecture by Associate Professor David Parsons was an insightful presentation covering the most recent updates in local and global research for cystic fibrosis sufferers.  David Parsons is the Team Leader Adelaide Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy Research Group and Chief Medical Scientist, Dept. of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital.

Associate Professor David Parsons spoke on: advances on key international cystic fibrosis research and treatment; the emerging treatments for cystic fibrosis, and; the progress on airway gene therapy for cystic fibrosis. being developed by the Adelaide CF Gene Therapy Research Group.  To view the presentation click here

Nigel Farrow presented on his experience with cystic fibrosis. As a researcher he has been working on finding a cure for cystic fibrosis with the Adelaide CF Gene Therapy Research Group since 2010. His daughter Ella was born with cystic fibrosis. Nigel started his research to find a cure for Ella and all of those who suffer with cystic fibrosis. As a parent and a researcher, Nigel believes that this research is the best way forward to finding a cure. To view his slides click here

David Coluccio, the Chair of Cure4CF Foundation, spoke on the work completed by Cure4CF that has contributed towards the Adelaide Cystic Fibrosis Gene Therapy Research Group. He also spoke about the different ways in which people can help support Cure4CF. To read his presentation, click here
